Baritone Saxophonist Lauren Sevian has been performing professionally since the age of 12. One of her first major gigs was a performance with the Grammy All-American High School Band. At the age of 16 she won the Count Basie Invitational soloing competition, and was given the opportunity to perform alongside the Count Basie Orchestra. By the age of 17 she had already performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Village Vanguard. Lauren was encouraged to apply to the Manhattan School of Music and was accepted. Upon entering her senior year of college, Lauren was given the chance to go on tour with the critically acclaimed big band Diva. After returning from the Diva tour, Lauren returned to MSM and graduated in the spring of 2001 with a bachelor of music degree.

Lauren's first recording as a leader, "Blueprint", was released on Greg Osby's new label Inner Circle Music in December 2008. The majority of music was composed on the baritone saxophone, utilizing the complete range & melodic capability of the instrument, stylistically ranging from hard bop to free form. The core trio of George Colligan, Boris Kozlov, & Johnathan Blake bring the music to life with their own harmonic and rhythmic sensibilities & interpretations of the music. Blueprint spent over 15 weeks on the Jazzweek chart, peaking at #14! For more information on Lauren Sevian and "Blueprint", please visit laurensevian.com or innercirclemusic.net.
